Our team formation process will be modified this season. Any player that is interested in participating in the 2020-21 season with the Mpls Lakers, must complete the Season Enrollment Registration by September 11, 2020 including an enrollment fee of $25 that will be applied toward the full season registration fees if your player is offered a spot on one of our teams.
In some scenarios, players may need to attend a small group evaluation session (outdoors) during the team formation process. These evaluation sessions are scheduled for September 26th and 27th at Lake Harriet Upper Campus Playground and families will be notified at least 7 days in advance if a player needs to attend. There will not be any additional tryout fee for these sessions.
We are unable to guarantee placement on a team for all players that enroll in the program and will fully refund the enrollment fee for any player that is not offered a spot or if we are unable to field a team due to facilities or other limitations.
Season Enrollment Registration is closed. To inquire about any openings for specific age levels, please email Tisha Boarman (vicepresident@mpls-lakers.org) or registrar@mpls-lakers.org.
NOTE: These sessions are limited to players specifically notified that they should attend. If you have questions, please contact registrar@mpls-lakers.org

We are sanctioned by MYAS and provide skill appropriate experiences for Minneapolis youth basketball players. We are members of the Minneapolis Basketball Coalition.
Boys and Girls teams will be competing during the current winter travel basketball season.
Player participation is open to all 4th through 8th grade girls and boys residing in Minneapolis and/or attending school within the city of Minneapolis.
A high school varsity, junior varsity or 10th grade athlete may NOT join a non-school (community travel association) team.
Middle School athletes can play for their school AND for the Mpls Lakers if they so choose.
Players must be residents of, or attend school in Minneapolis and must participate on the team nearest to their residence, or for the school team or community travel association where they are enrolled. Exception: If a player fails to make the roster of the team nearest their residence or school, they may participate with the next nearest team.
If a player is looking to "waive" out of OR into the Mpls Lakers, they need to provide a fully executed Player Transfer Form to the organization representing the team, they would like to play for.
No player transfers will be approved for athletes who did NOT tryout for their Home Association.
Exception: If the Home Association wants to release an athlete that did not tryout for their program, they can do so at any time, however the release and the transfer to a bordering association must be completed before the November 1st deadline for player transfers.
Would your son or daughter like to play basketball, but you feel it might not be financially feasible? You can apply for a need-based scholarship here. Feel out the form and it will be confidentially submitted to our treasurer.
If you are awarded a scholarship you will be notified after our team formation process. If your son or daughter makes a team you will be given a code to use for team registration.
