Hello parents & players,

We’re excited to announce a few different player development programs that we'll be launching this summer.  First, is the Mpls Lakers Shot Club, second is with ETS that focuses on strength & speed, and our last one is camps & clinics with Athletic Gaines or individual custom training for this summer! This will be our 4th summer in providing motivation for summer training.  You don’t get much done if you only work on the days when you feel like it -Jerry West

Overview

Shot Club:

The Mpls Lakers Summer Shot Club is an opportunity for players to improve their shooting skills over the summer.  Shot Club provides members suggested goals, tips, and resources for improving their shooting technique.  Former and future Mpls Lakers players entering grades 4th through 8th in the fall of 2022 are eligible to participate.  The program is 10 weeks starting on Monday June 27th and concluding on September 2nd.

The purpose of the Shot Club is to inspire players to seek continuous improvement and work toward a meaningful goal.  The greatest reward in participating in this program is individual improvement.

The Mpls Lakers also intend for each participating player to be recognized at a local High School game in the 2022-23 season with additional recognition for players who achieve these milestones:

Summer Shooter A player who records shot attempts each week of the club period (June 27th to September 2nd)

  • 50x50 A player who records 50 shot attempts on at least 50 days in the club period
  • 5k A player who records >5,000 shot attempts during the club period
  • 10k A player who records >10,000 shot attempts during the club period

ETS Performance Training:

ETS Performance and Mpls Lakers have designed an exclusive summer training program target for our players.  Athletes between the ages of 8-11 will meet twice per week for 8 weeks to work on linear & lateral speed development, plyometrics and body strength.  For our older athletes 12+ they will also meet twice per week for 8 weeks to work on total body strength development and injury resistance.

Athletic Gaines Training:

The Mpls Lakers partnership with Athletic Gaines offers 11 different specific camps that focus on Offensive skills, shooting camp, scoring camp, handles camp, team concepts, or flexible scheduling small group training sessions.  The trainers have experience training everyone from beginners to NBA and WNBA players.
