The Mpls Lakers (SWYBA) Board is a working board that supports the ongoing operations of the Mpls Lakers Youth Traveling Basketball Program. The Mpls Lakers (SWYBA) operates exclusively as a non-profit educational program for recreational and competitive basketball in accordance with Section 501-(c)-(3) of the Federal Internal Revenue Code. No earnings shall benefit any Officer, Director or Member of the Mpls Lakers (Southwest Area Youth Basketball Association).
The Board’s work is handled through monthly in-person meetings, throughout the year, at locations to be determined by the Board. (Typically, we meet at Mpls Park and Recreation Centers, Schools or Churches in Minneapolis) or at other locations within and around Minneapolis.
In addition to in-person meetings, board members spend a considerable amount of time working through electronic communications, subcommittee meetings in between full board meetings. The expectation is that all associate and at large board members will commit at least 15 hours per month to board activities. In addition, it is expected that Board Members will serve at least a 2 year term.
The Board of the Mpls Lakers shall have Officers and Directors that will serve as:

Registrar
Facilities Director
Travel/Tournament Director
Marketing Director/Webmaster
Fundraising Director
It is the duty of the Board of Directors to attend ALL Board meetings.
The Board of the Mpls Lakers will have Coordinators that will serve as:
Player Development Coordinator
Equipment/Spiritwear Coordinator
Facilities Coordinator
Manager Coordinator
Travel Coordinator
Coaching Coordinators
Coaching Development Coordinator
Coaching Consultant
Past Presidents
Coordinators are not required to attend ALL Board meetings.
